Unfortunately, when unqualified individuals attempt to perform inspections mistakes or unneeded expenses can occur. They may condemn a pole which is still serviceable or they may unintentionally miss a dangerous defect which could result in loss of life and property. It is an investment to engage only certified and qualified professionals who understand and have experience in this specialised industry.
First and most important – safety. With a drone inspection not only can the pole inspector pick up defects that are not visible by naked eye or binoculars, but he does not need to climb the pole. Secondly, the cost can actually be more economical than a traditional line inspection since there is no need for isolation since to the inspector and lineman maintaining safe clearances and remain on the ground. Third, the quality and credibility of the inspection is enhanced when the stakeholders and clients receive the tangible data they require.
