WARNING
Telecommunication poles and electrical power poles are NOT the same. Electrical power poles are hardwood and are structurally rated. These poles are tested and verified by the manufacturer and thus have a ratings disc recessed into the pole.
Timber poles are the most commonly used poles for electricity distributors but also for rural customers. These poles come in various sizes and strength ratings that suit the customers needs. Since our technical staff are all ex-utility employees we specialise in the installation, maintenance, inspection and design for these types of assets.
Electrical timber power poles are generally readily available to authorised service providers; however, most service providers do not have the machinery to install these poles. Our team has a 4 tonn lifter borer which makes the drilling and installation quick, safe and reliable. When installed by industry experts these poles should last for decades.
Electrical timber power poles are generally preferred for rural properties and long electrical runs since they are available in much taller lengths than steel or composite fibre power poles. The timber power poles we use are also resistant to termite attacks since they have been impregnated with CCA (Copper Chrome Arsenate). This treatment also increases the durability of these electrical poles.
Another key advantage of timber poles is the fact that they are non-conductive which make them much safer that steel poles. They also have an array of different attachment options whether hooks for bundled conductor or cross-arms for single conductor construction.
We receive many calls from customers or providers to replace their steel poles with a timber pole due the acceptability for attaching telecommunications assets such as Telstra and NBN.
